This Pensacola Beach homeowner had a porch ceiling that was hard to ignore. A layer of dark mold had spread across the painted boards, and while the rest of the house stayed clean and bright, the ceiling had been a frustration for months.
The ceiling also had a special paint coating made specifically for homes near salt water, and we wanted to be sure we did not damage it, so we slowed down before starting. We looked the whole area over and confirmed the mold was only on the painted ceiling, which meant we could focus the work right where it was needed.
Why we soft washed it
High pressure and delicate paint do not mix. In Pensacola’s heat and humidity, soft washing is a good fit for painted porches, siding and roofs, because it cleans with a mold-killing solution and gentle pressure instead of force.
We applied the soft wash solution, gave it time to soak in, and the mold released from the surface without aggressive pressure. The dark stains are gone, the ceiling looks cleaner and brighter, and the porch is ready for family and guests again.
Whether it is a small porch ceiling like this one or a whole house, we take the time to do it right. The photos below show the ceiling before and after.
